Together, We Didn't Just Rebuild A School; 

We Helped Restore Hope, Strengthen A Community, And Create A Place Where Future Generations Of Children Can Dream, Learn, And Succeed.

Helping Hands Jamaica Foundation's 28th School Build was a powerful reminder of what can be achieved when compassion, community, and determination come together. 

Volunteers from across North America travelled to Jamaica to help rebuild Fyffes Pen Primary School, which had been devastated by Hurricane Melissa. Over three inspiring build days, they worked side by side to transform the damaged site into a stronger, safer, and more resilient learning environment designed to withstand future storms and provide local children with the opportunity to learn, grow, and thrive.

This project held special meaning for Helping Hands Jamaica Foundation. In 2019, volunteers celebrated the completion of additional classrooms at Fyffes Pen, the Foundation's 20th school build. Following the hurricane's destruction, the community once again turned to Helping Hands, proving that rebuilding hope is just as important as building schools.

Beyond the construction site, volunteers experienced the warmth and beauty of Jamaica while creating lifelong memories together. They explored Floyd's Pelican Bar, YS Falls, the Black River Safari, and Appleton Estate, while sharing unforgettable moments during a farm-to-table dinner in the countryside, the Helping Hands Jamaica Foundation 20th Anniversary All White Party at Lovers' Leap hosted by the Jamaica Tourist Board, a beachside dinner at Jake's Hotel, and a farewell barbecue at Calabash Villa. These experiences strengthened friendships, celebrated Jamaican culture, and reinforced the Foundation's connection to the communities it serves.

The week concluded with the dedication of the newly rebuilt school to the community, celebrating not only a restored building but renewed opportunity for generations of students. Every classroom, office, and washroom constructed represents a lasting investment in education, resilience, and brighter futures. 

Thanks to the generosity and dedication of Helping Hands Jamaica Foundation volunteers, supporters, and donors, another community has been given the foundation it needs to move forward with hope.
